You can expect to see things like candy-themed sweet mountains, Egyptian ruins, spaceports with planets in the background and even a trip to the underworld, which provides plenty of variety albeit in predictably cartoony style. ![]() Even menus have that mobile feel, with big icons instead of any words explaining what they do, which is fine to navigate if a little annoying.īackgrounds are flat and 2D, but so have some moving elements and again subscribe to the bright colour palette of the rest of the game. Lemmings are blue and green, mischievous lemmings are red and purple and they all have cute little animations like flailing their arms to demolish walls or clinging on to an umbrella as they fall to the depths below. Take for example the character models, which are the kind of basic 3D that wouldn’t look out of place on the PS1, but use a zany colour palette to give them a bit more life. Of course, there’s no actual story here but that isn’t a really a departure from previous entries.Ī vibrant, colourful game, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to learn that Lemmings Touch started life as a mobile title before being transported over to Vita as it has all the graphical hallmarks of a phone game. They’ve fallen into cultural irrelevance in recent years and I’m not sure that today’s youth would know that the above phrase would mean that you’re just blindly doing something, so it’s nice to see them come back with a vengeance here, complete with new additions like the mischievous lemmings you’ll need to dispose of. Those who grew up in the 90’s like me will be familiar with the little green-haired, blue-bodied creatures who were the subject of phrases like “he follows her like a lemming”. Those dumb lemmings need your help again! Once more casting you as an omnipotent being tasked with keeping them alive, you will move obstacles and give them skills so that they don’t perish on the way to the exit of each level. ![]()
